Burial container guide
The purpose of a burial liner or vault is to protect the ground above it from caving around a casket, leaving unsightly sinkholes through a cemetery.
A burial liner supports the sides and top of the grave to help prevent the ground from settling. It is not designed to seal the casket or keep out water and soil.
A burial vault also supports the grave, but adds a lined, sealed enclosure designed to provide more protection from soil and outside elements.
Cemetery requirements vary. A funeral director can help confirm what the cemetery requires.
Rental casket guide
A rental casket is used for the viewing or funeral service. Your loved one is placed in a new cardboard cremation container inside the rental casket, and the casket's interior inserts are brand new.
After the service, the cardboard container is removed and used for the cremation. The rental casket stays with the funeral home and is cleaned before it is used again.
The rental price includes the cardboard cremation container.

Both types provide a dignified enclosure. No casket can preserve a loved one indefinitely. Cemetery and burial-vault requirements vary, and a funeral director can help explain the available choices.
